The Starbuck Depot

The Depot was placed on the National Historical Register in 2006.  The Northern Pacific Depot was built in 1882 and the last train left on July 15th, 1982.  In 1986, a renovation project began and now the depot is the host to community festivities.  In May, they celebrate Lefse Dagen Days, which is in celebration of the World’s Largest Lefse that was made on July 1, 1983.  This year marks its 25th anniversary!  It measured 9'8" and weighed in at 70 lbs.  In September they celebrate Eple Tiden, which is the Norwegian title for “Apple Time”.  Also added in November 2007 is the Starbuck School Museum.  There you will find interesting memorbalia.

The Starbuck Marina and Hobo Park Campground

The Starbuck Marina and Hobo Park Campgrounds are located on the western shores of Lake Minnewaska.  The campground consists of 100 sites with electrical hookups along with many tent sites.  When entering Hobo Park, a larger than life statue of a hobo will greet you.  The legend of the park inscribed is in the base of the statue.  This monument is listed on the Minnesota Historical Society’s list of Roadside Architecture.  The Marina, which is located at the entrance of Hobo Park has 188 boat slips and four sailboat slips.

The slips can be rented out on a seasonal basis through the Starbuck City Office at 320-239-2525.  Starbuck Lakeshore Park is located just south of the campgrounds.  The park features a sandy beach area, picnic shelter, softball field, skate park, tennis courts, horseshoe pits and a large playground area.

Holly Skogen Park, also known as the Troll Park by local children.  It is privately owned and kept open to the public.  Approximately over 2,000 visitors sign the guest book each year.

Starbuck Hospital

The first Starbuck Hospital was built in 1899 and at one time was the only hospital between Minneapolis and Fargo N.D.  The building was placed on the National Historical Register in 1982 and in 2001 was placed on the Preservation Alliances list of the 10 Most Endangered Historical Properties in Minnesota.  Currently Project Starbuck is working on grants and other fundings to save this beautiful and historic building. > More info
